Double Success for SFB 1607 Members at the Sicca Research Award

Outstanding achievements by young scientists of the Collaborative Research Centre (SFB) 1607 were recognized at this year’s Sicca Research Award ceremony. Two of the eight prize recipients came from Cologne: Dr. Leonie Menghesha (1st Prize) and Hanna Hübbe (2nd Prize).

Dr. Menghesha, a Clinician Scientist at SFB 1607, was honored for her clinical study on ocular Graft-versus-Host Disease (oGVHD). Hanna Hübbe, a PhD student within SFB 1607, received second place for her research on soluble CD83 in TSP1 knockout models.

The Sicca Research Award, established by the “Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Diseases” section of the Professional Association of German Ophthalmologists (BVA) and sponsored by Bausch + Lomb, recognizes outstanding research in the field of dry eye disease and ocular surface disorders. Each year, the award is presented during the DOG Congress, Germany’s largest ophthalmology conference.

Congratulations to both awardees for their excellent research contributions and for representing SFB 1607 with distinction on the national stage!
