SFB 1607 Welcomes Guest Researchers from the University of Tokyo

SFB 1607 recently had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Takashi Ono, MD, PhD, and Dr. Chika Mochizuki Ono from The University of Tokyo for a scientific guest visit in Cologne.

Throughout their stay, both scientists engaged in lively discussions with members of SFB 1607, visited laboratories and clinical facilities at the Department of Ophthalmology, and gained insights into ongoing translational research activities. Their visit provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing collaborations and explore new scientific perspectives.

A particular highlight was the joint lecture session, where Prof. Ono and Dr. Mochizuki Ono presented their latest research on corneal biology, lipid metabolism, and immune regulation. The presentations sparked stimulating discussions with researchers across different disciplines.

The scientific exchange continued during the subsequent Journal Club, led by our PhD students, who presented and discussed current research together with the guests. The interactive format encouraged insightful conversations and the sharing of ideas across career stages and research fields.

We sincerely thank Prof. Ono and Dr. Mochizuki Ono for their inspiring visit and valuable contributions. Their stay once again demonstrated the importance of international collaboration in advancing translational research and developing innovative approaches to prevent and treat age-related blinding eye diseases.
