CMMC Symposium 2026 Highlights the Metabolic Control of Tissue Regeneration and Degeneration

From September 28–30, 2026, the Cologne Center for Molecular Medicine (CMMC) will host the CMMC Symposium 2026 – Metabolic Control of Tissue Regeneration and Degeneration at the CMMC Cologne. Incorporating the 38th Ernst Klenk Symposium, the meeting will bring together internationally renowned researchers. The symposium will focus on the central role of metabolism in regulating tissue regeneration and degeneration.

Recent research has demonstrated that metabolic pathways and metabolites not only provide energy and biosynthetic building blocks but also govern fundamental cellular processes, including proliferation, differentiation, cellular reprogramming, and immune responses. Understanding these mechanisms is essential for addressing major challenges in human health and disease.
These topics closely align with the research interests of SFB 1607. Metabolism and immunity are recurring themes across many of the SFB’s projects and are highly relevant to understanding regenerative and degenerative processes in the eye. The symposium therefore represents an excellent opportunity for researchers and students to gain insights into current developments in these rapidly evolving fields.
