Success for Marion Fros at the international Falk workshop on fibrosis
In October 2025, Marion Fros from the Institute of Pathology presented her current scientific work at the international Falk workshop on “All Aspects of Fibrosis” in Berlin. Marion Fros is a PhD candidate in the SFB 1607 Project A01 and is supervised by Professor Margarete Odenthal (Institute for Pathology) and Professor Dr. Björn Bachmann (Dept. of Ophthalmology), who head the project “Site- and stage- specific chronic inflammation and fibrosis in Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy”.
The workshop brought together internationally recognized experts from research and clinical practice, who presented new findings on the mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment of fibrotic diseases in high-caliber lectures. The international Falk Workshop is highly relevant to fibrosis research, particularly in gastroenterology and hepatology, and offers young scientists special visibility within the professional community.
Marion Fros’ research was selected for a short presentation as part of the scientific competition—a special honor given the international and highly qualified submissions. She received third prize for her presentation, which recognizes outstanding scientific contributions.
“The selection for a short presentation and the award of third prize underscore the high scientific quality and relevance of Marion Fros’ work,” explained Professor Claus Cursiefen, spokesperson for SFB 1607 and Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at Cologne University Hospital. “We are extremely pleased about this recognition and congratulate her warmly on this success.”
