At the ESCRS 2025 Congress (12–16 September, Copenhagen) hosted by the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, members of SFB 1607 delivered several high-profile contributions to the Cornea and Endothelial program.
On 12 September, Prof. Claus Cursiefen co-chaired the Cornea Day session with José Güell on “New developments and update in Keratoplasty,” and gave the talk “Management of a failed PKP: regraft or endothelial transplant?”. On 15 September, he presented “Update Acyclovir-resistant herpetic keratitis.” Also on Cornea Day, Prof. Björn Bachmann spoke on “Cataract and corneal endothelial disease: sequential or triple surgery.”
On 16 September, Prof. Bachmann chaired the session “High-Risk Endothelial Decompensation – Novel (Articifial) Surgical Options vs. Human Tissue”, featuring his lecture “Step-by-step EndoArt surgical technique and results in high-risk endothelial decompensation.” In the same session, Dr. Mert Mestanoglu contributed “Endothelial keratoplasty in high-risk endothelial decompensation: results and limitations.”
Additionally, Dr. Antonia Howaldt presented an ePoster titled “Presence Of Fibrillar Layer In Advanced Fuchs Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy Correlates With The Presence Of CTG18.1 Trinucleotide Expansion In TCF4.”
We are delighted that SFB 1607 was strongly represented at ESCRS 2025 and look forward to continuing these interdisciplinary collaborations.
