Early Career Support<\/h2>\n\n

Supporting early-career researchers is a fundamental priority of SFB 1607 and a key prerequisite for future-oriented research. Currently, 16% of our Principal Investigators (PIs) qualify as young scientists according to DFG criteria. Our goal is to exceed 20% in the next funding phase, reinforcing our commitment to fostering emerging talent.<\/p>\n

Moreover, we are proud that 69% of our PhD students and PostDocs across all projects are female, surpassing our initial goal of 50%. Additionally, 55% of our junior PIs are female. We remain committed to prioritizing diversity and inclusivity, striving to create an equitable academic environment for all.<\/p>\n\n

Career Development<\/h2>\n\n

We offer our members numerous networking events, scientific workshops, and sessions on securing research funding. Additionally, networking events with other Life Science SFBs are planned, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.<\/p>\n\n

Support for Female Scientists & Diversity<\/h2>\n\n

We have a dedicated budget to support the careers of female scientists and actively promote equal opportunities through targeted measures. Our goal is to create an inclusive research environment that encourages diversity and gender equality.<\/p>\n\n

    To ensure all measures towards career and family support and equality within SFB 1607 are fully implemented, a Gender Board Committee has been established. This committee currently consists of:<\/p>\n\n

    Connecting Science and Practice<\/h2>\n\n

    SFB 1607 promotes close collaboration between basic scientists, physicians, and clinician-scientists. This interdisciplinary approach strengthens research excellence and accelerates the translation of fundamental discoveries into clinical practice.<\/p>\n\n

    Support during Maternity Leaves<\/h2>\n\n

    We offer support to women during maternity by providing assisting staff for daily lab routines, helping them balance their responsibilities and maintain progress in their research.<\/p>\n\n

    Childcare assistance<\/h2>\n\n

    We support young mothers in re-entering science by helping them secure suitable childcare facilities to balance family and research commitments.<\/p>\n\n
